Getting to Aitoliko

Travel & flights

Aitoliko sits on the west coast of mainland Greece. Preveza is your closest, easiest airport — but if you fancy island-hopping before or after the wedding, the Ionian islands are right on the doorstep. Here's the lay of the land.

Preveza / Aktion (Άκτιο)

By far the most convenient. A scenic 1¼-hour drive south along the coast brings you straight to Aitoliko. Seasonal summer flights run from the UK and several European cities — book early, as they're limited. Hire a car at the airport, or we can help arrange a transfer.

Athens International

The fallback with the most flights, year-round, from almost everywhere. It's a straightforward (if longer) 3½-hour motorway drive west across the country — the road crosses the spectacular Rio–Antirrio bridge. Great if you want a couple of days in Athens first.

Make a holiday of it

The Ionian islands

If you're tagging a beach holiday onto the trip, fly into one of these and reach the mainland by ferry. They each have their own airport with summer flights from across Europe.

A hire car makes life easy

Aitoliko is small and rural, and the loveliest beaches, tavernas and the venues are best reached by car. We'd really recommend renting one between a few of you — it's inexpensive and gives you freedom. Taxis are common in and around the area too. We're looking into the possibility of sorting a shuttle bus to and from the after party venue, so please let us know on your RSVP if you'd be interested.

Tip

Book flights and the hire car as early as you can — June is peak season and prices climb fast.

Ferry timetables for the islands change seasonally — check ferryhopper.com once your dates are set.
